Fall Art Shows and Wine

Misty Resting Place

Misty Resting Place

It’s a busy time of the year here in the Santa Ynez Valley. Harvest season sets the tone for some great art shows as well as the never-ending flow of world-class wine making. This year I am making Malbec from the Lucas & Lewellen Vineyard (http://www.llwine.com). My must is in cold soak this week and will begin fermentation next week. Next year I will be the first year that I make wine from my own little (Micro) vineyard. The side effect of my winemaking is that I will make a large jar of Malbec pigment for Anthotype Prints from the wine grapes after the press. I love the idea of making full use of the grapes. To that end I should have some nice new Anthotype prints ready before Christmas. Unfortunately it will be two years before I am drinking the Malbec.

Our fall art shows have been an embarrassment of riches. I am honored to have placed in both the fall shows that I entered this past month. My work “Layers” took second place in the AGSYV (http://www.agsyv.org) “Fields of Color” themed show at Gallery Los Olivos. while my work “Misty Resting Place” took first place in the Lompoc Valley Art Association’s (http://lompocvalleyartassociation.com) fall show at the Cypress Gallery.
