“The Oak Lives”

Series of 9 New Prints in Platinum Emulsion

On View Beginning March 15, 2014

Meet the artist and see his award winning works. Never is the interconnection of nature more prevalent than when broken down into the simple symbiosis of two life forms. The Oak Lives series is not only a study of beauty found in seemingly mundane withering Oak trees, but also explores one of their essential utilitarian functions. Dead and dying Oak trees are a favorite storage place for the California Acorn Woodpecker to keep their bounty for future feasts. This series highlights an example of the beauty and mystery in the circle of life.

A reception for the artist will be held Saturday March 29th, 2014, 3:00 – 7:00 PM

Production Week

Since last week I have been knee deep in production. I finished the rest of platinum emulsion prints over the weekend and am now ready to frame the new Oak Lives series over the next couple of days. Also for this week I intend to print a big lot of new note cards for the gallery. Included in the note cards will be some fun color wildlife work featuring some of our beautiful local hawks. Today I was able to finally get around to printing some large (22” x 33”) black and whites on Kodak Professional Photo Paper Metallic. I must say that I had forgotten how much I love this paper. Who knows… I may even get a chance to get out and shoot some this week. I’ve always been torn between shooting and production.

GLO Show

I took down the Gallery Los Olivos show today. Thank you to all who came by and commented on the show. It was a great success and a pleasure to share my work. For those who were unable to make it by the show, I kept three works on view in the GLO Guild Room for this month, so stop by if you get a chance.
