New Work In The Gallery

I took four new Platinum Emulsion prints down to the gallery today. They are hanging on the back wall in a new section dedicated to the print style. Some of the new platinum prints are from older works and one is from a new series that I’m working on. Each of the pieces in the platinum process takes about three days to complete, but from my viewpoint is well worth the effort. This is one of the older works hanging now in platinum. I hope you can make it by and enjoy the new work.

Quiet, but not asleep

I’m sorry for not posting many new shots to social media lately. I’ve been completely focused on production over the holidays and haven’t had much time to shoot new subjects. Rather than my normal production I have been focused on two new areas of work.

Firstly many people have been asking for Canvas Giclee of some works. I’m happy to say that the gallery now has 20 or so new Canvas’ all the way up to 40 x 60 inches. I have to tell you it’s quite impressive see the larger Canvas’. This type of work is not only impressive it is cost effective and more widely accessible. These, as with most of my work were produced entirely by myself.

On the other end of the spectrum I printed a limited number of Platinum Contact Prints from Digital Negative. I currently have 16 new Platinum Contact Prints that made the cut and intend to do a handful more over the next few months. While the platinum printing process is expensive and quite laborious, the results are worth every bit of the cost and effort.  These new prints will be in the gallery next Friday after framing. Four of the prints are slotted to be in the Gallery Los Olivos show beginning February 5th. Hopefully I will have a new show focused on the Platinum Print at my Gallery sometime in March.

I still have a few limited editions yet to run, but intend to also get back to shooting this weekend. Until then….

Off and Running for 2014

If 2014 is anything like last year, it will be a whirlwind. Already I am getting ready for my show associated with selection as the February Artist of the Month for the Artist Guild of Santa Ynez Valley selection. While many of the works planed for the show are from my Oak Trees of Santa Ynez Valley series, there are going to be some very special new additions never before seen. Over the holidays I decided to go back into the darkroom after a thirty-year hiatus. While technically a dark room, it’s really a semi-darkroom for producing platinum emulsion contact prints from digital negatives. I must say that I am very pleased with the results thus far and hope you will be as well. If you already follow my work you know that there is a vintage feel to much of it anyway, so this is a natural way for me to produce a limited number of very special works.
